Waste Consulting for Commercial Accounts

You keep your hauler. We read your invoice, right-size the service to what the building produces, negotiate the rate, and split what we save you. No saving, no fee.

What Waste Consulting Is

Most businesses signed a waste and recycling contract once and have renewed it ever since. The volumes changed, the building changed, and the service stayed where it started.

Waste consulting is reading that arrangement properly. We go through your invoice line by line, against your contract and against what the site produces each week. Then we right-size the service, negotiate the rate, and look at what can be diverted from landfill.

You keep your hauler. You keep your contract. We work inside the agreement you already signed, which is what happens most of the time.

The Engineering Background

Vince spent over twenty years in manufacturing engineering, at Toyota and now at Johnson & Johnson. Toyota is the company that invented lean manufacturing, and lean means finding the waste in a process and taking it out.

A commercial waste bill is a process nobody has looked at.

One account was putting a lot of cardboard, plastic and paper into a general waste dumpster. Moving that site to a mixed recycling dumpster lowered the cost by 60 to 70 percent. That was one account and one waste stream. It is not a typical result, and it shows what reading the stream properly can find.

What the Review Covers

You send recent invoices and your contract if there is an active one. We check:

  • Whether the container sizes and pickup frequency match what the site produces
  • Whether the rate on the invoice matches the rate in your contract
  • Whether you are being billed for containers or services you no longer have
  • Whether fuel, environmental and administrative charges are in line with the market
  • Whether any part of the stream can be separated and diverted from landfill

Billing errors are common. A container billed at a size you no longer have, or a rate higher than your own contract states, both turn up regularly. When money comes back as a refund or a credit, it is shared the same way as a saving.

What It Costs

Nothing up front.

You send your invoices and sign a letter of authorization, which lets us speak to your vendors on your behalf. That is the only thing you sign before you see numbers, and it commits you to nothing.

If we find nothing, nothing changes and you owe us nothing. Your service stays exactly as it was before we looked.

How We Get Paid

Out of what we save you, and only after you accept the changes.

We measure what you were spending before we got involved, and that figure becomes the benchmark. Every month after the changes go in, we take the difference between the benchmark and your new cost, and invoice half of it. You keep the other half.

Our share is 50 percent of the net saving, not 50 percent of your bill. If the saving shrinks, our invoice shrinks with it. If it disappears, so does our invoice.

We make our money managing accounts over time, so telling you to stay put costs us nothing.

Ongoing Account Management

Once the changes are in, the vendor invoices come to us each month. We audit them, check the rates against what was agreed, and pass them through to you clear to pay.

If you run several locations, those invoices can be consolidated so you deal with one point of contact instead of a separate arrangement at every site.

Every service request and every service problem comes to us. One number for anything waste and recycling related.

Who It Works Best For

The businesses we do the most for produce steady, sortable volume week after week. Apartment complexes and property management, restaurants and food service, retail and furniture stores, warehouses, and shipping and receiving operations.

For a business with several locations and a separate contract at each one, having one person who reads all of them is usually worth more than the rate itself.

Questions about switching haulers, existing contracts and what the review involves are answered on our FAQ page. Scheduled collection, containers and equipment are covered on our commercial trash service page.

Send Us Your Waste Bill

It costs you nothing to find out what is in there. We answer the phone 7am to 8pm, seven days a week.
